Lithuanian accused of cheating Google and Facebook on 100 million dollars
IT corporations Google and Facebook turned out to be deceived by $ 100 million. According to the US Department of Justice, 48-year-old Lithuanian citizen Evaldas Rimasauskas is accused of attacking corporations. The charges against the Lithuanian have already been advanced.
According to the US Department of Justice, Evaldas Rimasauskas, from 2013 to 2015, pretended to be an Asian businessman. According to a Lithuanian legend, he produced software, but in fact he forged bills and contracts, luring money using a special type of Internet fraud - phishing.
The goal of such fraud is to gain access to user logins and passwords. Letters were sent to company employees on behalf of users whose data the suspect had accessed. As a result, large sums of money were transferred to the accounts of “Asian software producers.”
Messages were issued as letters from one company, however, they all led to false addresses to which employees Google and Facebook transferred funds.
