Personal experience. Why I love American libraries

Each small town has its own large library. I have not been in the department for adults, because with children there is not comme il faut, but without children I go to more cereal institutions ????

Here we have a separate room for children. We've been coming here since I was six months old.

This is a view of part of the children's room - on the left there are shelves with books, there is a computer corner for schoolchildren near the painted wall, there is a corner for children near the column, there is a reception area just in the corner, and in the middle there are reading places.

I really like such a large space, conditionally divided into zones.

There is another corner in which there is practically no furniture - various kinds of parties are held here, where all the guests sit on the floor.

For example, it may be story time a party. This means that on a certain day of the week, at a specific time for children of a specified age, the volunteer librarian reads a book (story), which is then discussed together.

Or it could be designer day. A huge container of parts is poured onto the floor, and everyone who makes it can play it.

We for the designer while are small, and time story time for our age coincides with the first dream. Therefore, we come to the library just to hang out and play local toys.

Needless to say that the library has toilets and free drinking water fountains. And everything is very clean, calm, pleasant.

But what I like most is the library system itself. The library has a website. It also publishes all information about events. What’s convenient is that the website is the same for all city libraries. If you need to see the schedule, you select either the type of event or the city.

You can register for the library itself on the site. In the same place, each reader has his own personal account in which he can electronically (!) Extend the date of delivery of the books. By the way, for the delay is charged a penalty in real American dollars. Cool, huh ?!

But you can take the book without going into the building. On the street there is a special system for return. You arrange everything yourself and put the books in the special window. I am delighted!

In general, we went, we go and we will walk. By the way, to just come to play like that, you don’t even need to show a library card.
