Personal experience: Keanu Reeves unexpectedly came to my wedding

One of the bridesmaids was adjusting my dress (my husband, James, accidentally stepped on it as we walked in). At this time, the wedding coordinator came up to me and said: “Oh, you have a special guest on the street.” And I thought, “Really? I have family in the USA. Maybe one of them suddenly arrived?

There was an evening reception, everyone was drinking and dancing. I went outside and here he is, looking almost embarrassed and shy, and it's Keanu Reeves. My jaw dropped and I said, "Oh my God, nice to meet you." And he replied: “Very nice to meet you!” So I invited him over, offered him a drink and some food, and we started talking. He congratulated me on my wedding, wished us all the best and hugged me. While we were talking, I turned to the wedding coordinator and said, “Go get James!”

The wedding day at Fosley Hall in Northampton shire went off perfectly. In the morning we watched a beautiful sunrise - it was so calm. The bridesmaids came to do my makeup and my family got together to decorate the reception area. The icing on the cake was the appearance of Keanu.

What I didn't know was that in some way it was James' doing. An hour or two earlier, he found out that Keanu was staying at the same hotel and eating at the restaurant, so he sneaked out to go and chat with him. He explained that we had just got married and invited him to come and say hello to me if he wanted to. He said that it was me in a big white dress, and it’s hard not to notice me, which made Keanu laugh a lot.

James didn't tell me anything about it, so when Keanu showed up, I was as surprised as anyone else. Seeing him chatting with my friends in the garden of the beautiful country hotel where my grandma liked to have her afternoon tea was more than strange.

I remember someone yelling, "Is that John Wick?" But Keanu was relaxed and down to earth - he took the time to talk to everyone and took a lot of photos. He wasn't trying to be the center of attention, he just seemed happy to be part of our day. My mom took pictures and yelled, “Speed!” and he found it funny. After chatting with everyone, Keanu left and we enjoyed the rest of our party.

The next day, we had just arrived in Crete for our honeymoon (really a family one because my daughter was also there) when someone approached us at the hotel bar and asked if we were Keanu Reeves' wedding couple and uploaded a news site that had our wedding pictures: the photos our guests had posted went viral.

It was unreal, all these people from all over the world were looking at our wedding photo. What's nice is that everyone was so kind. Of course, we get some negative. For example, some people claim that the photos are fake, or leave comments like this: "I don't like her wedding dress."

We also received several messages from fans in which they asked for his contact details, his location and the like. We simply do not answer them, because we only met him at our wedding; we don't have his contact details, he doesn't come to us for dinner in the evenings.

Many stories said that he didn't come to the wedding, which is a bit unfair.

Although it was a surprise to me, James invited him, so he didn't just show up. It's been almost a year since we got married and this story keeps coming up - Keanu even mentioned it on Jimmy Fallon's show recently, which was really funny.

All this fuss was fun, but we don't think it changed us. It's just a nice reminder of a beautiful day. We went to see the last John Wick at the cinema. When he came out, we showed our support. It was fantastic - a lot of action, a great storyline.
