Personal experience: how to adapt in the USA if you are not created for immigration

They say that there are people created for immigration, and there are not created for it. I am probably a person in the first category. I had a great job, a steady income and very good prospects. When I said that I was leaving, they simply did not understand me. That is, how do you leave everything and leave?

I came to this not immediately. If you're interested, I'll talk about the reasons. Good work, it seems to me, should not be a deterrent, because a specialist will always find application to his abilities if he / she constantly makes efforts for self-development. The market is very competitive and you should always stay on the wave.

So what I had: a job, some money, a family, and very few friends. You may ask why a little. The main backbone of friends comes from relationships that developed in childhood (adults somehow have more to do and trouble), and I was rich with friends. Yes, that's bad luck, they started to move all the way, who are to Canada, who are to Moscow, who are to Australia, but who knows where?

When I turned 30, in fact, I only communicated with 80% of my friends through Facebook. Yes, I had an interesting job, a family that one can only dream of, but I was incredibly bored, lacking what the Americans call a challenge.

A person who lived all his life in Baku, it is difficult to see how the population is changing literally before our eyes. Don't get me wrong, I love Baku and many (very many) people, but I have never experienced this very nostalgia for the city.

I sometimes remember my grandmother’s house in the village, with great warmth, all sorts of little things, it’s there. But taking into account the fact that the house in the village is no longer needed (and it was sold a long time ago), it turns out that I am a person created for immigration. The first three months were more difficult for my wife; she kept wanting to go back and take a look “with one eye,” but now she remembers it with a smile on the street.

Let's talk now about people not created for immigration. They are, and they are many. They are divided into different subcategories.

There are people who seem to be nostalgic, in the case of my countrymen, they are Azerbaijani (enter any country of outcome here) films, travel every two years to Baku, but they don’t even allow thoughts to stay there for more than a week.

We will not go into details, I will tell only about the worst subcategory. People who hate the country they came to. They are often unsettled, receive a free apartment, food stamps, money, free insurance, and often live no worse than the working class.

But how they hate America ... they curse and curse, and the most surprising thing is that they really cannot explain the reason. I understand that when people have never been scolded by America, or people have understood that it is not their country and returned home, there are people who hate America only because of its foreign policy, because on TV they only talk about it ... I just can’t understand those who can and allegedly want to return, but they don’t go anywhere.

Here is a man sitting, say, at a table and vilifying America as best as he can. If you ask why you’re not leaving, he’ll say something like “because of the children.” Or (from what he overheard) he dreams of the day when Putin will come and destroy the West. Really? And when he “destroys” the West, will he ask you to move so as not to hurt him?
