Smoked from 8 class: a teenager from Texas almost died due to electronic cigarettes
A teenager from Texas who smoked electronic cigarettes with the 8 class nearly died because of his addiction. This is written by the New York Post.
17-year-old Tristan Zohveld got to the Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth, Texas. He was placed in an intensive care unit with lung problems due to the excessive use of electronic cigarettes.
At first, the teenager was tired and rapidly losing weight.
“I was tired all the time. My energy was running low. I was losing weight,” Zohfeld said.
But soon his health began to deteriorate rapidly.
“I woke up vomiting and my heart was beating 100 miles an hour in my chest,” Zohfeld said.
The hospital placed him in a medical coma and connected it to a ventilator.
“We had no idea if he could handle it, and it was very difficult,” said the boy's father, Matt Zohfeld.
Doctors said they were puzzled after taking an X-ray, which "showed something like pneumonia in both lungs." But when they tested for infections, including pneumonia, none of them were positive.

The hospital could not find any answers until one of the family members said that the teenager started smoking electronic cigarettes back in high school, sometimes two to three vape caps per week.
“And then everything became clear,” his father said. “It became clear why the doctors didn’t find anything else.”
Doctors said that the chemicals he inhaled caused such severe pneumonia that they could no longer work.
After an 18-day hospital stay, the teenager promised to no longer use electronic cigarettes, which are mistakenly considered healthier than regular cigarettes.
“It’s really something that can happen and you can’t ignore it,” the teen said. “E-cigarettes are not as safe as you think.”
