Where do Ukrainians usually go in the USA: ranking of states
After the full-scale invasion, Ukrainians most often sought asylum in the United States on the borders with the states of New York, Illinois and California. This is evidenced by data US Customs and Border Protection reports “Voice of America".

And if in 2022 the largest influx of undocumented migrants from Ukraine was observed on the borders with California, then in 2023 the majority of Ukrainians arrive in New York, Illinois, New Jersey and Florida.

Since the beginning of the great war in Ukraine, US Customs and Border Protection has registered:
- more than 40 thousand requests for asylum from Ukrainians on the borders with the state of California;
- more than 34 thousand requests - in New York state;
- almost 33 thousand - in Illinois;
- more than 15 thousand - in the state of New Jersey;
- more than 14 thousand - in Florida;
- more than 9 thousand - in Texas;
- more than 6 thousand - in the US capital, Washington, DC.
In total, from March 2022 until now, 200 Ukrainians have asked for asylum in the United States.
Most of them arrived at the US border last year after the invasion - 121 Ukrainian citizens sought asylum in the US in 072.

From the beginning of 2023 to the present, requests for asylum from Ukrainians have decreased by almost half - 69 people.
By comparison, before Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2021, the United States recorded more than 10 requests for asylum from Ukrainians.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, as of June 2023, more than 8 million Ukrainians were abroad. Most of them are located in Poland, Germany, the Czech Republic, and the USA.
