The cruise company offers free tours, but you need to hurry with booking

California operator River Cruises this week introduced a limited-time offer that gives customers a free pre- or post-cruise land tour package as an add-on to their cruise when they book select trips across Europe, Egypt and the Mekong River scheduled for 2023.

To take advantage of the offer, bookings must be made by December 31st.

Available free optional land tours last between two and four nights and include:

• Zurich and Lucerne Switzerland XNUMX Day Tour, including two nights in each of the cities. The tour typically costs $1680 per person and is available free of charge as an add-on to seven-day Rhine cruises.
• XNUMX day tour of Prague in the Czech Republic. Usually the cost of the tour is $1320 per person. This tour is available as a free addition to the seven-day Danube and Rhine cruises.
• Three-day tour to Lake Como, Italy. The tour typically costs $1440 per person and is available as a complimentary add-on to some Rhine river cruises.

As part of the promotion, 15 of these additional tours with different routes are available for free. Other destinations where bonus tours are available include Paris, Vienna, Amsterdam, Barcelona, ​​Bangkok and Dubai.

Each of the land tour packages includes hotel accommodations, daily breakfast, transfers and transfers between hotels and the ship, as well as city tours and experiences.

As part of a related promotion, AmaWaterways is also offering customers a 10% discount on cruise fares when booking a second cruise for 2023 and adding a free pre-cruise ground package.

AmaWaterways offer comes just days after high-end ocean cruise operator Oceania Cruises announced that customers who book select 2023 cruises will receive a free land tour before or after the cruise for up to $4600 per person as an add-on.

Free pre- and post-cruise land tours with Oceania are available with 15 longer voyages scheduled for 2023. Tours range from one to three nights and include visits to iconic sites such as the Taj Mahal in India and Angkor Wat in Cambodia. .

Like AmaWaterways, Oceania's offer is only available to customers who book in the next couple of months.

The free add-on offer is being rolled out as cruise lines look for ways to increase bookings without lowering their base rates.

Many cruise lines have struggled to get shiploads back to normal since they reopened during the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead of reduced fares, many lines offered "extra" free services to customers, including free shore excursions, drink packages, and Wi-Fi packages.
