The Russian consul visited the Kiev hospital of captured Russian special forces

On Tuesday, the Russian consul in Ukraine visited detained Russian citizens, Alexander Alexandrov and Yevgeny Yerofeyev, who were at the Kiev hospital. As the press service of the Russian embassy in Ukraine said, they feel, on the whole, normal, they are provided with the necessary qualified medical and legal assistance.

“Embassy staff plan to visit fellow citizens on a regular basis,” the message says.

Yerofeyev and Alexandrov were detained by the Ukrainian side of 16 in May during the fighting near the town of Happiness in the Luhansk region. One of the detainees was wounded in the arm, the other in the leg. During the interrogation, they reported their affiliation to the 3 Brigade of the Russian GRU.

The Ukrainian Security Service announced that both special forces soldiers would be prosecuted for “terrorist activities.” The Russian Ministry of Defense denies that the Russians detained in Ukraine are active Russian military personnel.

Last week, Russian Chargé d'Affaires in Kiev, Andrei Vorobyev, said that the Ukrainian authorities were blocking the meeting of representatives of the Russian embassy with Yevgeny Yerofeyev and Alexander Alexandrov.
