Equifax company has stolen 143 million Americans data
Equifax in the United States credit bureau reports theft of personal data to 143 million Americans. According to the report, hackers received data from May to July 2017.
During this time, the attackers exploited a vulnerability in the application’s security system on the company's website, eventually gaining access to social security numbers, birth dates, addresses and driving license numbers of millions of Americans.
Hackers were also able to obtain credit card details 209 thousand people. Among the victims in the second case are residents of Canada and the UK. Equifax head Richard Smith brought an apology to the clients; the investigation will be completed in the coming weeks.
This news triggered a fall in Equifax (EFX) shares on 5,4% to $ 135.
