The merit of the Trump administration: the number of illegal immigrants on the US border is reduced
The number of illegal immigrants detained while trying to cross the border between Mexico and the USA has continued to decline in recent months. Immigration officials are trying to get out of the border crisis that has challenged the Trump administration for most of last year.
At a briefing at the White House, Acting Head of the US Border and Customs Service Mark Morgan said federal agents had stopped about 64 000 people on the southern border in August. And this is compared to the 82 000 in July and the ongoing decline from more than 130 000 detentions in May.
“The president made it very clear that he intends to use all the tools he and this administration have to deal with such an unprecedented crisis on the southern border,” — said Morgan.

Head of Service stated that the administration’s policy was to ensure that asylum seekers stayed in Mexico for the duration of the trial, and also prevented organized criminals from coordinating illegal transfers.
Morgan also pointed to actions taken by the Mexican government to curb the northern flow of migrants traveling around the country after President Donald Trump threatened to pay duties in early summer.
"This is to significantly reduce or stop illegal immigrants arriving from Mexico to the United States." — Trump then announced on Twitter.

During the summer months, the Mexican government tightened immigration laws by sending 15 000 troops to the country's northern border. Morgan hopes that the number of transfers will decrease.
On Monday, a California judge issued a nationwide ban on the administration’s latest attempt to restrict the movement of asylum seekers traveling through Mexico. This was previously permitted in New Mexico and Texas, but now such a policy has been suspended until further judicial review.
