And now, the US National Park Service has a proposal for 2022 for an inflation-weary public: five days, admission fees will be canceled in all parks in the country.

Free Entry Dates:

• Monday, 17 January: Martin Luther King Jr. Day;
• Saturday, April 16: first day national park weeks;
• Thursday, August 4: anniversary of the Great American Outdoors Act;
• Saturday, September 24: National Day of State Lands;
• Friday, November 11: Veterans Day.

"Whether it's a free day or throughout the year, we encourage everyone to discover our national parks and the benefits that come from spending time outdoors," he said. press release Chuck Sams, director of the National Park Service.

Application fee waiver does not apply to activities such as camping, boating, transportation, or special tours.

Many parks are free all year round

The NPC said most national parks have no admission fees at all. Of the more than 400 national parks, about 110 have entrance fees ranging from $ 5 to $ 35.

Of course, there is a paid entrance where big names sound: Yellowstone in Wyoming (and parts of Montana and Idaho), Yosemite in California, Denali in Alaska and the Florida Everglades.

And some groups of people can also get free admission all year round with annual passes:

• US military personnel and their dependents, US veterans and Gold Star families;

The NPS reports that recent—and much-needed—snowfall in the Sierra Nevada Mountains has left many areas in parched California Sequoia national park closed. And the closure of highways makes it difficult to access the park itself.
