You must file your tax return between January 24 and April 15.

While most of them are submitted online, sometimes a person just needs a live consultant to clarify issues that are important to them.

The IRS received over 100 million calls last year. The average waiting time for a call to be answered was about 27 minutes.
And even waiting for a connection with a specialist was recorded for 3 hours.

The IRS contact number is 1-800-829-1040, 7-19, Monday through Friday.

How to reach a consultant?

1. First select the language.
2. Then select option 2 for Personal income tax.
3. Then press 1 for Question already submitted.
4. Then press 3 for All other questions. Do not enter anything when asked for SSN or EIN.
5. Instead, wait for the next prompt and press 2 for Personal and individual questions.
6. Finally press 4 for All other inquiries.
