Cinema will come to virtual reality
The company Oculus VR, owned by Facebook, decided to start creating full-fledged films for their virtual reality glasses. In this regard, a division of Oculus Story Studio, which is directly involved in films. The specifics of the glasses make the movie completely different from the traditional: the viewer becomes a participant in the action.
The first picture, called Lost, has already been prepared, completely generated on a computer. The director was Sashka Unseld, who worked at the famous Pixar studio. The virtual film is short and lasts only five minutes, but the director notes that it can radically transform the cinematic world, since the action of the film depends on the behavior of the viewer. “It can last three and a half minutes, or it can last ten. It all depends on you,” The Verge quotes him as saying. It remains to be seen how the film will differ from the same computer games.
Analysts argue that the lack of diverse content is preventing virtual reality glasses from entering the mass market. The buyer of such glasses tries to play several games adapted for this, watch a three-dimensional roller coaster video and then abandons the expensive toy until better times, which is why the developers are concerned with creating content. The virtual reality film will be presented at the Sundance Film Festival, as well as at the upcoming Game Developers Conference 2015, writes the Dni.ru portal.
