Everyone can donate a generator or money for it to Ukrainians: how to do it through trusted organizations

Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, Russian troops have been constantly bombing critical infrastructure. Many Ukrainians are sitting without electricity, water and heating, and the winter in Ukraine is quite severe. To help Ukrainians, organizations from all over the world collect donations and send aid to Ukraine. How can you help? Meduza.

Non-profit organizations and activists from different countries are raising money for generators, batteries, warm clothes and other things that Ukrainians need so much this winter. In most cases, donations to these projects can only be made from foreign cards.

If you are a citizen of the Russian Federation, then helping Ukraine may be dangerous for you - the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation warned in the first days of the full-scale invasion that financial support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) would be interpreted by the department as high treason. Under the relevant Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, a person faces punishment of up to 20 years in prison. So be careful. Even if the organization does not help the military, it is better to play it safe and contact someone (usually through the contacts tab) to find out exactly everything and find a way to help and not end up in prison.

Poland (option 1)

Who collects: project "Let's return heat and light to Ukraine", which was launched by former Russian deputies of the regional and municipal level Natalya Shavshukova, Maria Solenova and Evgeny Domozhirov.

What collects: money to buy generators, power banks, gas cylinders and stoves. You can not donate money, but immediately buy something from the list: a potbelly stove, a generator, an inverter, a portable stove for cooking, a mobile power plant. Everything purchased is sent to Ukraine.

Poland (option 2)

Who collects: a non-profit organization created by Ukrainian entrepreneurs Help Ukraine Center.

What collects: winter clothes, warm sleeping bags, thermal underwear, blankets, generators, flashlights, power banks for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and civilians. The organization also raises money for the purchase of medicines and other necessary products.

How to donate: items should be brought or sent to a warehouse in Poland in Chelm (Rampa Brzeska, 63) from Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 18:00. Money can be donated via PayPal bank card - all ways listed Online.

Ukraine

Who collects: taekwondo coach from Mariupol Oksana Shevchuk.

What collects: money to help people left in Mariupol. Volunteers bring generators, food, power banks, medicines, and animal feed to the city. Among those who donate, they periodically draw memorabilia - chevrons, bracelets, T-shirts.

Purpose: collection of generators, batteries, flashlights, power banks, LED lamps and battery-operated toys glowing in the dark for Ukrainian families, schools and orphanages.

How to donate: from January 12, the necessary things are accepted at Dohnaer Straße, 53 (the church provided a warehouse for the project).
