Every fourth American is on the verge of bankruptcy

According to Bankrate.com, almost every fourth American has a credit card debt in excess of their reserve fund.

All because of the fact that 29% of Americans do not have backup savings.

The survey results show that many Americans are "teetering on the brink of financial disaster," says Greg McBride, chief financial analyst at Bankrate.com. He also notes that most do not have sufficient savings but are actively using the credit available to them.

Analysts are strongly advised to always have a reserve fund, as extraordinary expenses occur more often than we think.

A 2014 American Express study found that half of all Americans faced unexpected expenses: 44% of expenses were related to healthcare, and 46% were related to auto repairs.

According to the survey, people between the ages of 30 and 49 have a worse financial situation than others when it comes to credit history. Most likely, this is due to children and mortgage costs.

Financial analysts recommend that Americans address the situation - to pay off credit card debt and begin to accumulate a reserve fund, because spending on health care and a car is hard to plan.
