It will be easier for Kazakhstanis to get a visa to the USA: what will change

The US Embassy is going to simplify the issuance of visas for residents of Kazakhstan, in particular, it is planned to cancel the interview procedure for non-immigrant visas, reports tengrinews.

US Ambassador to Kazakhstan Daniel Rosenblum spoke about the innovations.

In an interview with reporters, Rosenblum explained that the pandemic increased the amount of other work that needed to be done as a priority.

“At the moment there is no proposal to extend the visa period. Perhaps this is a matter of the near future. But we continue to discuss with the government of Kazakhstan how we can improve the issuance of long-stay, multiple-entry visas. But it must be a two-way entry. Although we, of course, have rules and conditions for issuing visas, we want to encourage Kazakhstanis to travel to the United States, but we also encourage Americans to visit Kazakhstan, as this is the strongest guarantor of friendly relations between countries, Rosenblum said. — The steps we are taking now are to reduce the waiting time for obtaining a visa. The second issue is permission not to come to the interview. So that people can simply apply for non-immigrant visas. We see a big positive impact when Kazakhstanis and Americans visit each other.”

At the same time, the ambassador noted that the United States needs to be very careful in its visa policy in order to keep citizens safe and prevent any problems.

“I can’t give you the exact percentage, but there have been frequent cases where people leave on a tourist visa and stay to work there. There was also a problem with people staying longer than their visa. So during visa interviews, our consuls often ask very difficult questions to make sure people will act according to the law,” he said.

The ambassador also added that the issue of opening direct flights between Astana and New York is a constant subject of dialogues between the countries.

“Both parties are interested in opening this flight. But, as you understand, this is a very complex issue, there are a lot of rules and regulations that need to be followed. In particular, there is a conversation with the US Aviation Association. I don’t think it will happen tomorrow or in a month, but we are positive that it will happen soon,” Rosenblum said.
