Kazakhstan tightens visa rules for citizens of Russia, Armenia, Belarus and Kyrgyzstan

Under the new rules, the period of stay in the country cannot be reset by leaving it and immediately returning back. Previously, to renew the period of legal stay on the territory of this state, Russians could use the so-called "visaran" - to cross the border of Kazakhstan once every three months and immediately return.

Astana's decision was published this week on the official website.
The decision will come into force on January 26, obliging Russians and citizens of other countries of the Eurasian Economic Union to leave the country for at least 90 days after the allowed three-month stay.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the country said that this measure will allow the state to strengthen control over immigration.
Recall that tens of thousands of Russians, mostly young people and middle-aged men, fled to Kazakhstan last year from mobilization in Russia.

The Russian language is widely spoken in Kazakhstan. The two countries share the longest continuous land border in the world. All this makes Kazakhstan a popular choice among Russians who move here to escape the draft.
Another important factor was the ability to stay in the country de facto indefinitely. Russians could leave it and re-enter every 90 days.
Kazakh authorities said the unusually large influx of population has fueled inflation, which topped 20% last year, the highest since the 1990s.
