The house of cards: how Hillary Clinton can still become president of the United States

Harvard professor of constitutional law Larry Lessig told about the scenario in which former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton could become President of the United States in the very near future.

He described the publication Newsweek.

The scenario consists of five “if-then” steps and is based on the idea that Donald Trump’s connection with Russia will be proven.

1. If it is finally proved that Trump had conspired with Russia in order to win the election, he would be forced to resign or be impeached.

2. If the resignation or impeachment of Trump will take place, then the current vice-president Mike Pence will become president.

3. If Pence becomes president, he will also have to resign, given that he also won the election through Russia’s help, perhaps without even knowing it.

4. If Pence resigns before a new vice president is appointed, House Speaker Paul Ryan will be president.

5. If Ryan becomes president, he must decide on the appointment of Clinton as vice president, and then resign.

The main objection to such a scenario, of course, are doubts that Ryan wants to see the vice-president of the man the candidate from his party won (albeit fraudulently), and then simply leave the road, freeing Clinton on the way to the presidential chair.

“Without a doubt, if Ryan had acted this way, it would have been the most unusual event in American history, but it would have united people and parties,” Lessing said in response to criticism.
