California obliges all civil servants and health workers to be vaccinated against COVID-19
Those who do not show proof of vaccination against COVID-19 should be tested weekly as officials seek to slow the rise in coronavirus infections among the unvaccinated. Writes about it NBC News.

The new rule will take effect next month, officials said. According to the California Inspector's Office, there are at least 238 government employees in the state. Health officials were unable to immediately estimate the number of health workers in the country's most populous state.
About 62% of all eligible Californians are fully vaccinated, and the state has struggled to make significant progress in recent weeks.

Meanwhile, the more contagious delta variant currently accounts for about 80% of infections in California. Hospital admissions are on the rise, but are still much lower than they were during the winter peak.
New York also announced that it will require all of its municipal employees, including teachers and police officers, to be vaccinated against COVID-19 by mid-September or get tested weekly.

In California, the rise in cases comes amid the political backdrop of the upcoming vote to recall Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom. It allowed the state to resume operations on June 15 and was hesitant to introduce new requirements for mask wearing or social distancing, even though major counties, including Los Angeles County, are demanding or encouraging residents to wear masks indoors again.
Voters will begin receiving ballots in the mail in about three weeks, and election day is set for September 14.
