How cheap to rent a car in the USA

Whether you live in a metropolis or in a town with 20 houses, it doesn’t matter, you want to go somewhere where we are not. And you can’t do it without a car. I’ll tell you what I did when I had a license but didn’t have a car, writes Andrey Boychuk in an article for Immigrant porada.

Naturally, I rented a car. How is this done in America? I'll tell you now.

There are several options for renting a car, but I recommend two - only convenient and cheap.

1. Turo — on this site, car owners rent out their cars for a day, two, a week, and so on. Renting a car per day will cost from $10. And if you like the car more expensive, then don’t forget - you can always bargain. Unfortunately, this service is prohibited in some cities. For example, in New York you cannot rent a car on this site.

2. Hotwire - this site is similar to Kayak or Priceline. Even if you prefer to buy tickets on other sites, I recommend using this one for renting a car. Why? Because it's the cheapest. The car costs from $15. Personally, in New York I bought the cheapest car for $18, and in Chicago for $9.

For example, you want to take a car from Friday evening to Sunday evening. Try this option:

1. Take the car to 20.00 on Friday and give it away on Sunday to 20.00. Expensive? Well, OK.

2. Take the car to 23.30 on Friday and give it away on Sunday to 23.30. You do not need so late? And you can pick up the car and 20.30, even if reserved for 23: 30. And from the time you took the car, the countdown will begin. Do you understand? Well done. Anyway expensive? Okay, try on.

3. Take the car to 00.30 on Saturday and give it away on Monday to 00.30. The price should either rise or fall. In 90% of cases the car will become cheaper. Doesn't the price still fit? Well ok, last option.

4. You pick up the car at 5.00 in the morning on Saturday and give it away at 5.00 on Monday. You can still pick up the car at 20.30 on Friday, just say that you reserved it for the morning.

If you are not 25 years old, the price for you will be more expensive. On some sites, you generally can not book a car.

Should I take the smallest car? I will say this, I always reserved a small one, and when I came there, they never had a small one, and they let me choose what I wanted. Therefore, sometimes I went to the one I wanted. But sometimes I drove the smallest car (once on the road I was almost blown away by the wind when traveling to Philadelphia).
