How to recycle the Christmas tree after the holidays in New York: three ways
When all the presents are given out and received, the festive dishes are eaten, there is still a Christmas tree from the New Year.
There are several options for how to dispose of this tree after the holidays in New York, their list was collected edition Silive.
Leave on the sidelines
The New York Sanitation Department annually runs a Christmas tree harvesting program after the holidays. In 2018, it will run from 2 to 13 in January.
Trees that will not be harvested after this period is completed can be simply left on the side of the road like standard household waste, and garbage trucks will pick them up. This will not be a violation of the rules of disposal.
Before you take a tree to the side, be sure to remove all the ornaments, garlands and tinsel from it. These trees will be collected and recycled into compost for parks and gardens of the city.
Mulchfest
On January 6 and 7, from 10:00 to 20:00, the City Parks Department will hold its annual event - Mulchfest.
Participants can come to the festival with a bag or basket and collect mulch there for use in their own private gardens or flower beds.
Locations for events in New York: Clove Lakes Park, Cheshire Place, Clove Road; Conference House Park, parking at Hylan Boulevard and Satterlee Street; Midland Beach; Tompkinsville Park, Bay Street and Victory Boulevard.
During the event, the department of parks can also transfer your trees from home to make mulch.
Independent export
Christmas trees can also be taken to the tree reception offices of the City Parks Department. They will take December 31 and January 7.
Reception locations: Father Macris Park, Fahy Avenue and Lamberts Lane; Silver Lake Tennis House, University Place and Revere Street; Summit Avenue Parking Lot; Tappen Park, Bay Street and Canal Street; Willowbrook Park, Richmond Avenue and Eton Place; Wolfes Pond Park, Cornelia Avenue and Hylan Boulevard.
Before taking trees there, they must be cleaned of ornaments, garlands and tinsel.
