How in America revered presidents who left the post

George Washington

The George Washington Memorial (pictured above) is one of the world's most famous monuments to political leaders. Its shape was inspired by the Egyptian symbol of stability and creativity. Throughout his presidency, he was confined to a wheelchair due to the fact that he suffered polio in the 39 years of age. John Kennedy

The eternal flame at the grave of John F. Kennedy at Arlington National Cemetery is the monument to President Kennedy. Former US military personnel are buried in this cemetery. The President visited this slope with a friend just a few months before his death in November 1963. He liked the quiet environment of the place. The eternal flame was lit at the request of Kennedy's widow Jacqueline. It was she who chose for him a place accessible to the public, noting that now her husband belongs to the American people.
