How to find out the waiting time for immigration services and check the status of the case
It is not difficult to check the status of your immigration case - it can be done online from the comfort of your home or office, and even just from your mobile phone. To do this, go to special page the official website of the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and follow the simple instructions.
That check the status of your case using an online tool, you must have a receipt number, or Receipt Number. This number is a unique 13-digit identifier that USCIS provides for each application or petition received and is used to identify and track cases.
The receipt number consists of three letters followed by 10 digits. For example, letters can be EAC, WAC, LIN, SRC, NBC, MSC, or IOE. You can find it in the Action Notices sent to you by USCIS.
So you went to check page... Before entering a receipt number in the (Enter a Receipt Number) field, USCIS recommends that you read the confidentiality agreement that appears under the Check Status button.
You must omit the dash (“-”) when entering the receipt number, but you can include all other characters, including the asterisks (“*”), if they appear in your notice as part of the receipt number.
The online system will show you the most recent action taken on your case and will advise you on further action, if applicable. USCIS will also offer helpful reminders to keep you updated and, if necessary, make any inquiries.
If you want to check one more case, it's time to do it while you are in the system - to do this, you need to enter a new receipt number in the Enter Another Receipt Number field.
