How a sect recruits hipsters in Brooklyn

A branch of the notorious "sexual cult" of Nxivm, who condemned the "slaves" by the initials of its founder, secretly recruits artists of Brooklyn.

Although the sect based in Albany must cease to exist after the arrest of its founder Keith Ranierra in Mexico in connection with allegations of sex-trafficking, she now seems to be looking for new victims.

Last month, a number of famous artists and writers from Williamsburg, who were asked not to be named, were invited by friends to a party.

A flyer for an event in a private house in Williamsburg described it as "an evening of meeting with cool like-minded people and conversations about life, authenticity and tremendous human potential", also vaguely referring to the mysterious "program for expressing opinions."

But at the party, the guests were shocked by the fact that they had to throw off 10 000 dollars on the “curriculum” of the so-called “Source”, which suggested a “life improvement” program for artists and artists.

One of the participants said that the tusovka started off perfectly, there was no question of any slaves, but everything became strange when the presentation of wine and cheese turned into a performance of the Source. If some guests took it as a joke, others seemed to take it seriously.

The girl whom the friend invited to the party said: “She’s a good girl, but I’m angry with her because she tried to pull me into her sexual cult.”

A more thorough investigation revealed that the organizer of the Brooklyn party is a current or former member of Nxivm. There is a video in which Raniyera discusses his principles with a dedicated follower, Smallville actress Allison Mack, who was with Rannier during the arrest. The “source” seems to be raising funds for Nxivm.

Ranier and Nxivm been objects of criticism for many years. In 2012 year Times Union of Albany published a series of articles that investigated whether it looked like a sect.
