In order to provide service for such a long flight, there are two teams on board, each has its own captain and first officer, who share flight control.
The first team practices takeoff and then rests for five hours, while the second team is in charge of the flight. Then they change again every three hours - one team is in charge of the flight, while the other sleeps. The first team captain is also responsible for landing the aircraft.
During takeoff, the aircraft weighed 272 tons, which is only eight tons less than its maximum allowable weight during takeoff in 280 tons. When taking off in an airplane was a 101 ton of fuel.
Singapore and New York are on opposite sides of the world. The plane flies between these cities through the South China Sea, China and Russia.
The plane crosses the North Pacific, the Bering Sea, and then flies over Alaska, Canada, and finally arrives in New York.
