The incident occurred at 10:17 a.m., the airport administration said on Platform X. While the plane was in motion, the wing of the taxiing plane hit the tail of a parked Delta aircraft.
Photos posted by passengers on social media show the wing of the Japan Airlines jet cutting the tail of the Delta jet roughly in half.

"We were standing on the taxiway at SeaTac and another plane hit us, just accidentally clipped our tail. Very scary," one passenger wrote on social media.
"It was loud and scary. An investigation is underway now," he shared.
Airport authorities said the incident had "minimal impact" on operations at the port city's airport.
"There are currently no reports of casualties. SEA is working with both airlines to safely disembark passengers and transport them to the terminal," the statement said.
The incident comes amid continuing tension at airports across the country following two recent serious incidents.
Just a week ago, 67 people were killed when a U.S. Army helicopter collided with an American Airlines passenger jet while landing at Reagan Airport.
Two days later, in Philadelphia, a medical plane with six people on board crashed into a busy street and exploded, killing everyone on the plane and one person on the ground.
