Famous Hollywood actress confessed to surviving rape

79-year-old actress, winner of the Academy Award Jane Fonda said that she had experienced rape, and that she had lost her job once, because she refused her boss who was molested.

These confessions she made in an interview with the magazine The Edit.

“To illustrate the toll the patriarchal system takes on women, I was raped, sexually molested as a child, and fired because I refused to sleep with my boss. And I always thought it was my fault that I didn’t do or say the right thing,” Fonda said.

According to her, young actresses are very hard because of the attitude towards female sexuality, since the main focus is on how a woman looks.

Fonda said that as she grew older, she felt disadvantaged by the fact that many of the men in her life were victims of patriarchal views on life and spread this “disease” everywhere.

She noted that “many young women are raped and they don’t even know they were raped and they blame themselves for saying no in the wrong way.”

“One of the most important things the women's movement has done for us is that it has made us realize that rape and harassment are not our fault. We were abused and it is wrong,” she said.

The Foundation stressed the importance of equal pay for men and women and stated that the struggle for it is now a very important step in protecting the rights of women.

“I never thought about it. I'm talking about the high point of my career in the 70s and 80s: I was never paid a lot of money. I never thought I was worth it,” she said.

The Foundation has been involved in protecting the rights of women for many years, and it also supports funds that help victims of rape.

Jane Fonda was nominated for an Oscar 7 times, eventually receiving 2 statuettes - as best actress (for the films "Coming Home" and "Klute").
