Volcanic eruption in Hawaii: a huge lava lake appeared on the island
The incredible eruption of the Kilauea volcano continues in the Halemaumau crater, which feeds the lava lake. The depth of the lake reached 554 feet (170 m). Writes about it HawaiiNewsNow.

Representatives from the Hawaiian Volcanic Observatory said the lava lake has deepened 24 feet (39 m) in the past 12 hours.
The lake covers an area of approximately 69 acres (28 ha).

Eruption in the crater started on sunday on the evening of December 20, a fountain of lava burst more than 160 feet (50 m) into the air and quickly evaporated the water lake that formed in the crater after 2018 eruptions.

It took this watery lake almost two years to reach a depth of 167 feet (51 m).
There are two active fissures feeding the new lava lake. Although volcanic activity has been described as "stable," meaning it poses no immediate threat to the population, the eruption releases large amounts of gas and creates fog that is reported to be very thick in some areas.
