Israeli startup announced the development of electric vehicle charging technology in 10 minutes

Israeli startup Chakratec presented its charging station that can recharge an electric vehicle battery in ten minutes, reports RIA News with reference to the portal of scientific innovations ISRAEL21c.

As it is noted in the article, General Motors attracted Chakratec to the implementation of the large-scale task set before the concern - to launch the 20 models of electric vehicles to the 2023 year.

Currently, one of the key questions for any manufacturer of electric vehicles is the time required for charging. Even at the very best electric stations it takes a minimum of 40 minutes to fill a dead battery. For drivers accustomed to spend five minutes at a gas station, this is too long.

“Current batteries are not environmentally friendly and break down quite quickly, like batteries in a phone or laptop,” the publication quotes Ben-David. A charging station based on Chakratec technology, on the contrary, can operate for up to 20 years and will be several times cheaper to operate, he claims.

Debatable is the question of whether fast charging should be spontaneous, like a regular refueling when drivers stop when needed, or a managed service. Ben-David, being a consistent supporter of the second option, proposed a simple scheme - it allows the owner of an electric vehicle to assign a specific time to charge his car through a mobile application.

An Israeli startup already offers its services in Europe, the article notes.
