Israelis created a navigator navigator telling about sights

Israeli startup WishTrip registered 29 world patents and presented a project that will allow traveling in Israel and other countries of the world on routes in accordance with the reviews of other users. Write about it News of Israel in Russian.

In fact, this is an analogue of the navigator Waze, only for those who travel on foot. The development of the platform took 4 year, the volume of investments amounted to several million dollars.

The new Israeli navigator is based on the participation of users who can share their impressions of the route. It is designed both for walking around cities and for traveling in nature reserves and natural parks. It takes into account tourist attractions, places to stay overnight or camp in Israel and other countries. Essentially, the first users of the platform “pave the way” for others by leaving recommendations, tips and photos.

The creators of the app are three young ultra-Orthodox Israelis. Two prefer anonymity. The third, Moshe Lifshitz, agreed to tell Vesti about the creation of the project:

“It all started when one of us was traveling in northern Israel with his wife and they got lost. He opened Waze, but it didn't help much. They still managed to get to the road. There they stopped a passing car and asked the driver how to get to the nearest village. It turned out he was around the corner, and they just missed him. Then my friend realized that there was a need to create a navigator for travelers on foot. He approached me because I am a passionate traveler and have traveled almost the whole world. So together we created the WishTrip application. It has attracted a lot of attention from investors, including from the US and China.”

The State of Israel has also invested in a startup. The state investment in the project amounted to 4,5 million shekels ($ 1,24 million).

The project of Moshe Lifshitz is considered very promising. The WishTrip application is already used by 100 thousand Android users, and it is also available for iPhones. According to Lifshitz, he has been repeatedly offered to sell his startup for big money, but he does not agree. “This is our baby, and we believe that we can develop it independently both in Israel and abroad,” he says.

How does WishTrip work?

The application offers to choose a trip from two directions: on natural routes or sights.

In the first case, the navigator provides complete information about the selected route, helps to plan and go through it, paying attention to the most interesting corners and attractions. The user can publish photos, videos and text comments as you go, creating a kind of travel diary.

In the second case, the application plays the role of a conductor, providing an opportunity for sightseeing managers to post relevant messages, for example, about a new exhibition or event that is being held right now.

The application works without an internet connection, which is especially important abroad, where roaming costs a lot of money. At the same time, everyone can contribute to the development of the project by sharing their own experiences and feel like a guide for others.
