Israeli stewardess caught measles on a flight from New York and fell into a coma due to complications

An 43-year-old flight attendant was hospitalized in a coma state in Israel due to complications caused by measles, after she became seriously ill after flying an El Al flight from John F. Kennedy Airport last month.

The woman, whose name has not been disclosed, is in the intensive care unit at the Tel Aviv hospital, fighting for her life, having been ill after the flight from Queens to Israel on March 26. Israeli officials confirmed that there was a passenger with measles on the flight, although reports say that there is no risk of spreading the virus to other people on the plane, writes NBC New York.

Although the symptoms of measles are usually not dangerous - runny nose, sore throat, dry cough and fever - doctors don't want people to fall prey to the misconception that it is a trivial illness.
