Israel is preparing for the worst-case scenario, which, according to US officials, could materialize within just a few hours. US officials are talking about the possibility of a direct Iranian attack on Israeli soil.

Tehran previously threatened to take revenge on Tel Aviv for the April 1 Israeli airstrike on the Iranian consulate in the Syrian capital Damascus.

The attack killed senior Iranian officers, including two generals of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The State Department has banned some Israelis from entering the United States - read more about this in our material.

Two U.S. officials said a major Iranian attack on Israel is expected as early as April 12, possibly using more than 100 drones and dozens of missiles targeting military installations inside the country.

Officials said it would be difficult for Israelis to defend against an attack of this magnitude.
