Israel is the only country to which the United States will not cut financial aid

The administration of President Donald Trump is conducting a large-scale audit of financial support allocated to foreign countries, and intends to reduce the support of all countries except Israel.

The budget plan of the White House provides for the reduction of foreign expenditures by 28% of the amount pledged for international support in 2017, reports LA Times.

The reduction will mainly affect projects aimed at combating climate change, promoting democracy, health programs and numerous foreign aid projects.

Financial aid to Israel in 2017 amounted to $ 3,1 billion, and the reduction under the Trump program will not affect it. Thus, Israel will receive the largest amount of aid from all countries of the world.

Egypt is another major beneficiary of aid from the US; in 2017, $ 1,5 billion was sent to that country, but the amount of aid to Egypt, like all other countries except Israel, will be revised.

At the same time, the head of the State Department, which deals with the distribution of international assistance, Rex Tillerson supported the idea of ​​reducing the budget, saying that the department will find "more efficient ways of using less money."

The idea of ​​reducing international assistance has many opponents in the Congress, among diplomats and human rights activists, so it is too early to say whether such a draft budget will be supported at the legislative level.
