Changed requirements for photographs for a visa in the United States: what you need to know

U.S. Department of State объявил that from November 1 the requirements for photographs submitted for a visa to the USA have been changed. The main requirement, which appeared for the first time: taking pictures with glasses is now prohibited.

As noted on the State Department website, photography is a key part of a set of documents for a visa. Employees recommend using the services of professional photographers and comply with the following requirements that are now imposed on a photo for a visa.

New requirements for visa photos in the USA:

• Photo should be color
• Size 22 mm to 35 mm
• Photos must be taken no earlier than 6 months before filing documents
• Simple white background
• Looking straight into the camera
• Facial expression must be neutral, both eyes must be open
• Clothing should be what you usually wear
• Avoid uniforms, except for religious clothes that are worn every day.
• Without a hat or other headgear that covers the hair and head. If you wear a hat every day for religious reasons, make sure that the shadow of the headgear does not cover your face.
• Headphones, electronic devices should not be in the photo
• Since November 1, 2016 is forbidden to be photographed with glasses. The only exception that is made to this rule is that you can wear glasses only if they cannot be removed for medical reasons. For example, you recently had eye surgery and the flash may damage your vision. In this case, the photograph must be accompanied by a doctor's certificate.
• The frame should not turn a blind eye. There should be no glare, refraction of light.
• If you wear a hearing aid every day, you can take a picture with it.
