A group of Russian diplomats returned from North Korea in an unusual way - on a handcar. They had to push this self-propelled cart because North Korea's borders are closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Writes about this with the BBC.
The footage of the return of the embassy staff was published by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).
First, eight people traveled by train, then by bus, and then pushed a railcar across the Korean-Russian border for 1 km.

Russian diplomats had few options on how to leave this country.

The photo, which was distributed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, shows how diplomats with bags are pushing a trolley along the railway track.
Among others, the third secretary of the embassy Vladislav Sorokin pushed this cart. But first, Russian officials traveled more than 30 hours by train and several hours by bus from the DPRK capital, Pyongyang, to the Russian border.
They were met on the Russian side and taken by bus to Vladivostok airport.

In the DPRK, additional troops were sent to the country's borders to block the movement of people and thus stop the spread of the virus.
Over the past year, many foreign diplomats have left North Korea, and Western embassies have been closed.
Most of the travelers left the DPRK by land and crossed the border with China. Although in March last year there was one flight to Vladivostok, on which German, Russian, French, Polish and Romanian diplomats left the DPRK.
