Barry has stunned US oil production by 73% due to the storm: what will happen to gasoline prices
Tropical Storm Barry led to a 73% reduction in crude oil production in the Gulf of Mexico, the Federal Agency for Environmental Protection reported on July 14.
The Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) said about 73% of the area's current oil production was suspended, amounting to 1,38 million barrels of oil per day. The reason is the consequences of Storm Barry, which made landfall in Louisiana on Saturday, July 13, writes Fox Business.
The storm also reduced the production of almost 62% natural gas in the Gulf of Mexico.
Personnel had to be evacuated from 283 production platforms (42,3% of the 669 manned platforms in the Gulf of Mexico), BSEE reported, citing data from operator reports. Production platforms—offshore structures from which oil and natural gas are produced—remain at the project site permanently. This differs from drilling rigs, which are moved from place to place.

Personnel were also evacuated from 10 non-dynamic drilling rigs, nearly half of all structures of their type currently in use in the Gulf of Mexico, according to BSEE.
13 On July, a storm struck the coast in the form of a 1 hurricane category in Intercostal City, Louisiana. Soon after, he weakened and was downgraded to the category of tropical storm. According to forecasts, today, 15 July, the storm will head north through the north-western part of Louisiana, and "life-threatening flash floods" may stop on Monday, according to the National Hurricane Center.
How to change the price of gasoline
As the WTLZ, because of the storm Barry gasoline prices may rise. The reduction in oil production usually leads to an increase in the average price of fuel throughout the country.
