Due to a failure in DoorDash, Americans received a huge amount of food for free: the company suffered losses of tens of thousands of dollars

Some DoorDash customers took advantage of the delivery site glitch to order thousands of dollars worth of groceries and meals for free. What happened found out the publication Business Insider.

Posts on social media pointed to a problem that occurred on the site on July 7th. The glitch allowed users to checkout without paying.

One customer showed a receipt in their DoorDash account for over $3000. The order included 32 packs of diapers and 45 units of baking soda. A later photo posted by a user showed several boxes of alcohol that appeared to have been ordered from the site.

In a Twitter post, another customer said that he received about $10 worth of free items as a result of the glitch.

Some customers who successfully completed a fraudulent order boasted that they blocked their card so that DoorDash would not charge them retroactively.

One user reported that he bought $400 worth of items on the app and said that DoorDash did not contact him to return the items.

According to the DoorDash website, the site charges a commission on all orders. It appears that merchants delivering goods have lost most of their payments due to the outage, according to the company.

A spokesperson said, “On the evening of July 7th, DoorDash experienced a problem processing payments, and as a result, some users were able to checkout without an authorized form of payment within a short period of time. We were subsequently notified that some users were placing fraudulent orders and we immediately corrected the issue. We are actively canceling fraudulent orders and contacting affected sellers to ensure they are compensated for any unauthorized orders they may have received. We are working to always offer the highest quality of service to the customers we serve and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused by this outage."
