However, Kapobyanki warned: “Viral genomes are dynamic, and these preliminary data need additional analysis to determine the biological significance of gene variants and to investigate the evolutionary pathway of coronavirus.”

Experts will further analyze the data using the new Thermo Fisher SARS-CoV-2 assay to better understand the virus and analyze its entire genome.

Scientists are considering various treatments for the new coronavirus, which has affected more than 480 people worldwide, including nearly 000 in the United States.
