The Israel Police Spokesman's Unit suspects terrorism as the motive for the incident. Both suspected attackers were killed, the spokesperson's unit said. The incident took place on Jerusalem Street in Tel Aviv.
Two suspected terrorists began attacking people on the city's light rail system. They were eliminated by a municipal security patrol with the help of citizens who were there, who had personal firearms.
Large police forces are now conducting extensive patrols across the city in search of additional threats.
The attack by suspected terrorists came just before an Iranian missile attack on Israel. The IDF said about 180 rockets were fired at several targets in Israel. An Israeli security official said most of the rockets were intercepted, but "a few hits were recorded and the damage is being assessed."
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to respond to Iran for the massive missile attack on his country.
"Iran made a big mistake and it will pay for it," he concluded.
