iPhone with satellite connection and new smartwatches: what new items did Apple introduce at its annual presentation

On September 7, Apple held its traditional annual presentation of new products, where it showed new generations of its smartphone, smart watch and headphones, reports Cursor.

New smartwatch features and budget Apple Watch SE

First of all, the public was shown a new smart watch, the Apple Watch Series 8, priced from $399 to $499. Their design, interface and main functions remain the same, but the following innovations are known:

• application for women "Cycles";
• new dials;
• temperature sensor;
• new colors;
• the gadget has learned to detect collisions in case of an accident and automatically call the rescue service.

Apple said the new Series 8 watch will pair the temperature sensor with a previously released cycle tracking app for retroactive ovulation detection. The company emphasized the confidentiality of the cycle tracking approach.

Apple has said it does not have a key to decipher health data such as cycle tracking.

The new Apple Watch SE was also presented, which is now positioned as a children's watch. They have basic functions and low cost - from $249 to $299.

In addition, the company showed the Apple Watch Ultra for $800. They are able to work in active mode 36 hours, and in power saving mode - 60 hours.

Designed for extreme sports and diving, it aims to challenge sports watch experts such as Garmin (GRMN.BN) and Polar.

“Apple is competing for a consumer segment that already has high loyalty to its existing products and suppliers and will need to prove itself over time,” said Runar Bjorhovde, an analyst at Canalys.

Also reported on the following innovations:

• the ability to create a mini-map in the real world;
• a siren that can be heard at a distance of 190 meters;
• titanium case;
• protected buttons and wheel;
• new types of straps for extreme lovers.

Headphones that understand gestures

Next, Apple showed the new Air Pods Pro 2 headphones for $249, which received a new chip and other updates:

• gestures that allow you to change the volume by stroking the earpiece;
• extended battery life;
• doubling the effectiveness of noise reduction.

iPhone 14 with satellite access

After watches and headphones, the public was shown new models of smartphones - iPhone 14 (from $ 799) and iPhone 14 Plus (from $ 899), which became larger than their predecessors, and also received the most "survivable" battery in history.

The Plus model received a display with a diagonal of 6,7 inches, and a more budgetary novelty - a display with a diagonal of 6,1 inches.

Both models received the A15 processor, which was in the iPhone 13 Pro. They will also feature a 12-megapixel main camera, which Apple claims is 49% better at capturing light in low light.

Apple said its emergency call feature will work via satellite, meaning you can contact emergency services even if you're in an area where there's no coverage.

It also says that in some situations, users will be able to use the FindMy app to share their location via satellite when they don't have another connection.

Globalstar will be the satellite operator for the Apple SOS emergency service. Shares of Globalstar rose 16% on September 7 after the announcement of the deal with Apple.

Finally, Apple introduced the iPhone 14 Pro ($999) and iPhone 14 Pro Max ($1099) with the A16 processor, which lost their notch and received a new cutout where some notifications will now be shown:
