FBI asks people to exercise extra caution around Tesla vehicles

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is updating the public on recent incidents across the country involving Tesla electric vehicles, dealerships, parking lots and charging stations, according to official FBI website.

Since January 2025, incidents involving Tesla vehicles have occurred in at least nine states. They have included arson, shootings, and vandalism, including graffiti expressing discontent with those the perpetrators perceive as racists, fascists, or political opponents.

These illegal acts were apparently committed by lone criminals. All known cases occurred at night.

These attacks require minimal preparation, using primitive methods such as homemade incendiary devices and firearms, and may be perceived by criminals as harmless pranks on property.

Therefore, the FBI urges citizens to be vigilant and to be on the lookout for suspicious activity at locations associated with Tesla dealerships or other company-affiliated properties.

Possible signs of a threat:

• Violent threats posted online, citing specific Tesla properties.
• Inquiring about or learning about safety precautions at Tesla dealerships.
• Photographing safety-related equipment or personnel in Tesla showrooms.
• Increased interest in Tesla-related items.
• Attempts to gain access to restricted areas or bypass security measures at Tesla facilities.
