Immigration officers arrest a young father at the door of a hospital

Last month, customs and immigration control (ICE) officers arrested 37-year-old Mexican Oscar Millan at a time when a man was about to pick up his newborn son Oscar Mathias from a hospital in Boston. There, a two-week baby was given an emergency operation to restore the correct operation of the valve between the stomach and the duodenum. The baby could not properly digest food.

It is worth noting that the authorities had already detained Millan in 2016 for drunk driving, but then the issue of his immigration status was not raised.

An ICE representative told the site ProPublicathat Millan "will be detained and awaiting his expulsion from the United States." This case is widely discussed by the public, as the ICE insist on the deportation of Millan, although his case is not a priority and there are other migrants who pose a greater threat to the public safety of the United States than the case of Millan.

Despite the fact that US President Donald Trump argued that ICE will primarily work on expelling migrants who pose a direct threat to US security, everything happens the other way around. Migration officers are increasingly detaining people without documents and without a criminal record who do not threaten security.

According to ProPublica, Millana's lawyer filed a lawsuit to prevent the forthcoming deportation of his client.

“The Millan family: wife Evanis Escudero, newborn son and eldest son Angel need the support of their father, especially during such a difficult period for them. The deportation of the man could cause significant harm to his family,” the statement said.
