This is the third annual New York Immigrant Report. It covers data for the 2019 calendar year.
According to the report, total number of immigrantsliving in New York, is 3,1 million people, which is about 37% of the total population of the metropolis and 45% of its workforce.
The largest number of immigrants reside in such boroslike Queens and Brooklyn (the region with the largest share of Russian speakers in the city), fewer of them are concentrated in the Bronx and Manhattan.
Speaking on immigrant statusliving in New York, approximately 56% of them are naturalized US citizens. In addition, about 30% is Green card holders, and they are potentially eligible for naturalization.
Total in New York, there are about 1,7 million children under the age of 18 years. More than one million, or 62% of them, live in families in which at least one of the family members was born abroad.
