These checks reflect the growing efforts of the Trump administration to comply with laws that prohibit businesses from hiring illegal workers, paying particular attention to protecting jobs for US citizens and others who legally work and strengthen public and national security.

Special agents in conjunction with the immigration and customs services sent 77 audit notices to companies throughout the bay and in Sacramento.

The notifications warn that company executives must prepare I-9 form for verification within three working days, after which the Ministry of Security will conduct an inspection for compliance.

ICE Deputy Director Tom Homan indicated that he would lead the service in order to step up work on checking jobs and make even more I-9 checks.

Any potential criminal charges or other sanctions will be coordinated with the US Department of Justice.

Recall that earlier immigration agents made a series of raids in the network 7-Eleven.

Illegal hiring is rarely prosecuted, in part because the investigation takes a lot of time and the charges are difficult to prove because employers can claim to have been deceived by submitting fake documents to intermediaries. The Trump administration is pursuing "its own unique strategy," emphasizing the fight against illegal immigration. During the operation, agents arrest illegal immigrants, but the main goal for them is employers who hire people who illegally entered the country.
