Immigration is changing the design of important documents.
January 22 USCIS began a 10-day pilot period for issuing updated citizenship and naturalization certificates to newly minted US citizens, says department site.
The pilot sites for issuing updated versions of these documents were USCIS offices in Norfolk, Tampa, Minneapolis-Saint-Paul, Sacramento and the Nebraska service center.
The redesign is part of the ongoing USCIS document fraud prevention program. As part of this program, graphic design has been improved and new security signs have been added to important documents.
Despite the renewal of the design, the process of applying for and obtaining certificates of naturalization and citizenship will not change. Previously issued certificates will remain valid as proof of citizenship or naturalization, regardless of when they were issued. It is only necessary to replace the certificate if it has been lost or contains incorrect information.
If the pilot testing is completed successfully, in the future, the issuance and issuance of updated certificates will begin throughout the country.
