Elon Musk will pay Wikipedia $1 billion if it changes its name
Billionaire Elon Musk has offered Wikipedia $1 billion if it changes its name, reports NDTV.
"I'll give them a billion dollars if they change their name to Dickipedia," he said, adding that he would do so "in the interests of accuracy."
A user called on Wikipedia to change its name and get money. “@Wikipedia, do it! You can always change the name back after you take the money,” the user said. But Musk set one more condition. The billionaire replied: “For at least one year. I mean I'm not stupid lol."

In another post, he shared a screenshot of Wikipedia's home page, which said: "Wikipedia is not for sale" and "a personal message from Jimmy Wales." Musk added: “Have you ever wondered why the Wikimedia Foundation needs so much money? They are definitely not needed for Wikipedia to work. You can literally place a copy of the entire text on your phone! So, what is money for? Minds want to know..."
Musk also asked in a follow-up message if a cow and poop emoji could be added to his Wikipedia page.

“Typical rich guy... Willing to donate only if an institution names itself after him!” — another user noted.
“Looking at the responses, I just can’t imagine these people waking up on the same earth as me,” another person wrote.
History of conflict
In May this year, Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales criticized Musk for censoring critics of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Turkey, a day before the country's highly controversial presidential election. In his message, Wales accused the billionaire of not supporting freedom of speech. Musk gave in to Turkish demands to limit content. In his post, Wales mentioned that when he encountered a similar situation, Wikipedia responded.
“Are your brains out of your head, Iglesias? The choice was to completely throttle Twitter or restrict access to some tweets. Which option do you want? - said Musk.
“What Wikipedia did: we stood firm on our principles, fought the Turkish Supreme Court and won. This is what it means to treat freedom of expression as a principle, not a slogan,” Wales responded.
