Entrepreneur, inventor and investor Elon Musk has apologized to a British diver for a tweet in which he called a rescuer of Thai children a pedophile. Air force.

Musk said he said this in the heat of the moment, reacting to cave diver Vern Unsworth criticizing his plans to build a miniature submarine to rescue 12 boys trapped in a cave. As Unsworth said, this gesture is nothing more than a PR stunt.

“His attacks on me do not justify the way I spoke out against him, and I apologize,” Musk said.

He wrote an apology to the diver in response to a message from another Twitter user. “The blame is mine and mine alone,” he writes.

At the same time, he accused Unsworth of telling lies about his mini-submarine, which Musk had flown to Thailand to rescue teenagers. It was never used for salvation.

A British diver told reporters on Monday July 16 that he was considering filing a lawsuit against Elon Musk.

How did the conflict develop?

Unsworth lives in Thailand. He was one of the first to discover exactly where the children were in the cave and helped assemble an international team of spelunkers.

Elon Musk announced that he was ready to take part in the rescue of the boys, and, together with his team, designed and sent a mini-submarine by air to Thailand.

However, Unsworth declared that she was absolutely unsuitable for saving children. The Thai authorities also abandoned plans to use this miniature submarine for the rescue operation.

Musk responded with a tweet in which, without mentioning Verne Unsworth by name, he called him a “British expat living in Thailand.”

He also said that he would make a video of the mini-sub getting deep into the cave without any problems, adding: “Sorry, pedo, but you asked for it.”

“You know what, don’t bother with the video. We ourselves will film how one of the mini-submarines goes all the way to cave No. 5 without problems. Sorry, pedo, you really asked for this,” Musk wrote.

When Musk was criticized for these words, he only intensified his attacks on Unsworth.

«Never seen this British expat, living in Thailand (suspicious), for all the time that we were at the caves«, Musk wrote.

Elon Musk later deleted these tweets, which received 22 million of his followers.

12 Thai teenagers were lost on June 23 and were found by rescuers only on July 2. Now they are safely rescued from the cave. The rescue operation was extremely difficult, hundreds of volunteers were involved in it.

The teenagers went far into the cave system and were cut off from the rest of the world after the level of water rose in the cave due to heavy rains.

Musk wasn't just criticizing Unsworth. Last week, as the rescue operation began, he took issue with its Thai leader, Narongsan Osottanakorn, after he said that although the mini-submarine was very technologically advanced, it was unsuitable for rescuing teenagers.

To this, Elon Musk responded on Twitter that Narongsan Osottanakorn is incorrectly called the head of the rescue operation, since he is not an expert in this matter.
