'Perfect execution': secret tests of Israeli weapons took place in Alaska

Secret tests of the Israeli anti-missile system Hetz-3 (Strela-3) took place in Alaska. They were carried out by the Israeli military in cooperation with the US Army.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced the successful test on Twitter, writes Air force. He stated that during the tests, targets outside the Earth’s atmosphere were hit.

“During three recent tests in Alaska, the Arrow 3 system intercepted ballistic missiles outside the atmosphere at unprecedented altitudes and speeds. Perfect execution! I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the United States for this achievement for the benefit of our common security.", Netanyahu wrote in"Twitterе«.

In his comments, the Israeli prime minister called the United States a great ally of Israel and said that the successful tests prove the ability of the Hetz-3 complex to act against ballistic missiles launched towards Israel from Iran or anywhere else.

He added that now the enemies will know that Israel is superior to them both in defense and in attack.

The Hetz-3 anti-missile system intercepts targets at an altitude of up to 100 km and operates at a distance from 400 to 2500 km.

It was developed by experts of the Israeli aerospace industry with the participation of the US Missile Defense Agency and the American corporation Boeing.

According to representatives of the Israeli Ministry of Defense, Alaska was chosen as a testing site for the anti-missile system for a number of reasons - in particular, during the launches, the interaction of the complex with American missile detection systems was tested.

The Alaska test was announced after Iran tested the Shahab-3 medium-range ballistic missile earlier this week.

Israel and America are historically linked by allied relations, which, having survived the crisis during the years of Obama’s presidency, intensified after being elected Donald Trump as president of the United States.

Recall that 6 December 2017, US President Donald Trump recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and called on the State Department to begin the process of moving the American Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, opening of the embassy in this city, it was timed to the 70 anniversary of the establishment of the State of Israel.
