ICE arrested 65 illegal immigrants in New York and Long Island, among them are citizens of Ukraine

US Immigration and Customs Enforcement Operations (ICE) (ERO) officers arrested 65 people during an 5-day raid in New York and Long Island.
During the operation, ICE agents arrested 65 people for violating US immigration laws. 64 from those arrested was previously expelled from the United States and illegally re-crossed the border.
Those arrested include citizens of Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico and Ukraine.
Some of the detainees had preliminary convictions for serious or violent crimes, such as sexual offenses, charges of possession of weapons and assault, or had convictions for significant or multiple offenses.
“As part of this operation, 64 of the 65 people arrested have already been deported from this country, and the majority are either criminally convicted or have pending criminal charges,” said Thomas Decker, director of ERO New York.
ICE officers made arrests throughout New York and Long Island, particularly in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, Staten Island, Nassau County and Suffolk County.
Some people arrested during this operation may be subject to federal prosecution for illegal return after deportation. For those arrested who are not subject to federal prosecution, the process of expulsion from the United States will begin. Those who already have a deportation order will be expelled from the country immediately, and others will be tried.
The ICE stressed that the reluctance of some local authorities to cooperate with them in immigration processes does not affect their efforts to bring illegal immigrants to justice, and raids in different regions of the United States take place almost daily.
