Biden's cancer has metastasized to his bones: 'It's very painful and very debilitating.'

The 46th US President's prostate cancer has metastasized and is causing pain. Despite this, Joe Biden continues to speak out on public issues. His son, Hunter Biden, revealed this in an interview, according to CBS News.

In an interview with BBC News that aired on August 7, Hunter Biden became emotional when talking about his father's condition, calling it a "difficult sight."

"The cancer has spread and metastasized to the bones," he explained. "It's very painful and, in many ways, seriously debilitating."

At 83, Joe Biden was the oldest head of state in US history, and his age was a source of concern throughout his four-year term. He and his team faced harsh criticism in the White House for what opponents claimed was concealing the extent of the then-presidential candidate's health problems. This was especially true when Biden was forced to withdraw from the presidential race after a disastrous debate with his eventual successor, President Donald Trump.

Biden announced his diagnosis in May last year, less than four months after leaving the White House.

At the time, his office said the cancer had been diagnosed with a Gleason score of 9, which equates to stage 5, the most severe category of the disease.

Last September, Biden underwent surgery to remove skin cancer. The procedure involves removing thin layers of skin in stages until the area is free of tumor. In October, his office announced, he underwent radiation therapy for prostate cancer.

In an interview with CBS News in May, Jill Biden admitted that her husband's diagnosis was a shock to the family.

"When we were told Joe's diagnosis, it was a complete shock," she admitted.

According to her, the disease was not detected during Biden's stay in the White House.

"Doctors were saying that the American Urological Association recommended that men over 70 no longer get PSA tests because cancer grows slowly... I think we had excellent medical care in the White House, and somehow that was missed," she said then.

Hunter Biden acknowledged that the diagnosis had a difficult impact on the family.

"It's very hard to watch," he emphasized. "The only thing I can say about my father's health now is that I wish he would complain more often, because things aren't so good."

At the same time, he emphasized that Biden continues to speak out actively on issues that are important to him.

"He's still out there, still doing his job," Hunter Biden said. "He truly believes in this country."

After the midterm elections, the 46th US President plans to publish a memoir titled "Promise Me, America."
